Ginger

Asofoetida

A species of Ferula native to Iran, the plant is an herbaceous perennial which grows to around 2m tall. The root is thick and carrot like and the leaves are around 40cm long.

Carom

A small erect branched shrub that grows to around 40cm tall. It has many branches of stems, each with many feathery leaves. White flowers and fruit October to March.

A large evergreen tree that can reach 15 metres in height. The trunk splits into two boughs covered with a smooth grey bark. The whole tree is wonderfully aromatic.

The leaves are similar to flat leaf parsley in shape, although slightly smaller and more intricate. Towards the top of the plant they become quite feathery where the plant produces small white flowers.
